In lieu of our usual weekly update, we have a special announcement:
It’s that time of year again! The Sentence Center Review is open for submissions!
This now annual tradition offers an opportunity for our students, past and present, to see their work published in our very own literary journal: The Sentence Center Review. Students can submit from now until Dec 2nd.
In addition to seeing their words in print and receiving a soft-bound journal, students will get a chance to read their work out loud at our Holiday Party on Saturday, Dec 14th from 3:00 - 5:30! Festivities will be held at our office at 520 Wisconsin St, 94107.
Every literary journal has guidelines to follow, here are ours:
Students must submit their work through this Google Form.
Work must be completed for Sentence Center– no essays written for school, no matter how awesome they are.
Work must not exceed 5 pages double-spaced. Though we can’t publish a student’s entire 200-page novel, excerpts from longer stories are more than welcome!
Format using 12-point font in Times New Roman, Ariel, or Courier and double-spaced
Submit by Dec 2nd, but earlier is even better!
This year we’re also offering the opportunity to submit artwork for journals’ cover. Artwork that isn’t featured in the journal will be highlighted in future newsletters.
Happy Writing,
Ms. Margaret & Ms. Ana

I did a big jump and then SPLAT. The snowboard landed back on its feet, and I rode all the way down.
“Going Snowboarding Was Fun” by Jaegeun (4th grade)
Lastly, we drove to the snowboarding place, and we all fell eight times. Sadly, it was very hard to get up from the snow.
